Laurel Graefe –
Director, Regional Economic Information Network Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta – Nashville Branch

Laurel Graefe is the director for the Regional Economic Information Network (REIN) in the Nashville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. In this capacity, she supports monetary policy deliberations through her analysis of regional and national economic developments for the Bank’s senior leadership. Her work gathering and synthesizing anecdotal insight from Tennessee business leaders adds real-time intelligence about the local economy into the policy process.
Ms. Graefe represents the Fed in regular speeches about current economic conditions, the economic outlook, and the functions and history of the U.S. central bank. Her work has been published in The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, NPR, and The Economist, among others. She also served as co-author for the Handbook of Oil Politics, published by Routledge. Prior to assuming her current position, Ms. Graefe was with the Atlanta office of the Federal Reserve where she served in a number of roles, including as a Director and Senior Policy Specialist overseeing inflation and energy analysis for the research department. Ms. Graefe joined the Bank as an analyst specializing in international economics and commodity price analysis.
Ms. Graefe has a passion for community service, serving as a mentor with Tennessee Achieves, working with the GEMS program (Girls Excelling in Math and Science), and providing financial literacy coaching. She is a graduate of LEAD Atlanta and was named one of Atlanta’s top emerging leaders in 2015 by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics, summa cum laude, from Agnes Scott College and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA with Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
